UNIONS WELCOME THE RELEASE OF THE NSW BUSINESS CHAMBER’S ’10 Big Ideas to Grow NSW’ DISCUSSION PAPER
Thursday 11 March 2010
Unions NSW Secretary Mark Lennon has welcomed a discussion paper from the NSW Business Chamber entitled ’10 Big Ideas to Grow NSW’.
“It’s important that unions, business and government work together to promote investment in NSW and given this I recognise the NSW Business Chamber’s contribution to raise the level of public debate,” said Mr Lennon.
Unions NSW agrees with many of the ideas listed in the discussion paper. Unions have long supported investment and job creation in regional areas, supported the creation of a
Department of Business Growth and recently participated in the ‘Fair Deal for NSW campaign’ which sought to ensure NSW continues to receive its fair share of GST revenue.
“Unions and business don’t see eye to eye on every issue, and we would have concerns with some of the ideas contained in the policy paper, but we’re supportive of the Chamber’s objective of creating jobs and stimulating investment in NSW,” said Mr Lennon.
“The NSW economy is travelling well, but in any economy ideas and innovation are necessary to maintain growth and to that end I welcome the discussion paper,” said Mr Lennon.
Unions NSW Secretary Mark Lennon was in attendance at the launch in Sydney yesterday and looks forward to engaging in the debate to help grow NSW after discussing the issues concerned with Unions NSW’s affiliates.
